Meet your Dentist, Dr. Rascius

Dr. Megan Rascius attended Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and graduated magna cum laude. She then completed a general practice residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL, where she covered emergency call, treated medically complex patients, and worked alongside physicians of all different specialties. She spent the last few years in private practice on the Connecticut shoreline - treating patients of all ages, with a special love for oral health education, esthetic design, and building patients’ confidence with healthy, functional, beautiful smiles.

When Dr. Rascius became a mom to her son two years ago, she experienced firsthand the difficulties that come with new motherhood: breastfeeding struggles, sleep challenges, and concerns about oral function. Her own experience pushed her to learn about early childhood airway development. Dr. Rascius now looks at every patient from a more functional and holistic lens, prioritizing airway development, optimal nasal breathing, restorative sleep, and healthy, functional dentition. She is passionate about helping moms and babies facilitate successful and pain-free breastfeeding.

Dr. Rascius consistently participates in continuing education, reads up on the latest literature, and strives to be a better dentist - and better person - than she was the day before. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association, and Shoreline Dental Society.

“When I was four years old, dentists told my parents I would spend my life in the dental chair. From a panoramic x-ray, they could see I was congenitally missing fourteen adult teeth. This meant years of different dental treatments… extractions, braces, partial dentures, bone grafts, implant surgery, crowns, and bridges. From my early childhood years until I was 22, I was constantly at the dentist for one procedure or another.

What began as begrudgingly and anxiously sitting in the dental chair turned into a healthy, functional and beautiful smile that gave me confidence to show up in the world as myself. After being the patient for so many years, I realized I wanted to give that same transformation to others. The transformative power of good dentistry - dentistry that is rooted in care for the entire person: mind, mouth + body, soul; that is functional, that is beautiful- changed my life. It can absolutely change yours too.”

Dr. Rascius knows what it’s like to be a patient.
